Book meme from et_tu_lj

1. What's on your current book wish list? If too many to list, describe what kind of things are on it.
2. If you could get just one of those as a gift right now, which would it be?
3. Are there any books in your collection that you want a different or secondary copy of?
4. When is the last time you sold/donated/otherwise got rid of books you didn't want anymore?
5. Do you have any books written in a language other than your native tongue?

What's on your current book wish list? Many, many things. Mostly I want to read a lot more fantasy, because that's what I want to write. I also want to read some classics I've never read. I want to read Brandon Sanderson, Terry Brooks, Terry Goodkind, Terry Pratchett, Carrie Vaughn.... One of Hemingway's and one of Faulkner's....

If you could get just one of those as a gift right now, which would it be? I'd probably say Brandon Sanderson because I met him and because I've heard such great things from so many different people about his books.

Are there any books in your collection that you want a different or secondary copy of? No. Sounds boring but it's the truth.

When is the last time you sold/donated/otherwise got rid of books you didn't want anymore? I'm in the process of getting rid of my Christian books to make room for new books, because while I have room for another bookshelf, I'm not a Christian anymore and therefore will never read those books again, so why spend money on a bookshelf just yet? Before this, it's been about four or five years.

Do you have any books written in a language other than your native tongue? No. I took German in high school but was never fluent in it, so it has never seemed like something I needed to do, or could do even if I'd wanted to.

When did you meet Sanderson? For me, I think what finally tipped me into getting around to it was seeing Patrick Rothfuss gush about him on his blog. When the authors I admire gush about someone else's writing, it carries a lot of weight for me.

He was at Mile Hi Con a few years ago, the first time I went. I liked what he had to say in the writing panels a lot, and he was pretty friendly and personable.

Ah, excellent.

I was thinking about Mile Hi Con a few days ago. I suspect it's probably too close to RTO, particularly since it would require an act of god to both be off anyway. *sigh* Still, I suppose it's worth checking the calendar.
